Location
Newtonmore is located just a mile and a half from the A9, which is a direct road to Inverness and the North of Scotland. From the village it is approximately a 45 minute drive to Inverness, an hour from Fort William and between two and three hours to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Many guests that visit Biallid House outside the peak times of late July and August will find that driving in Scotland, especially around villages like Newtonmore, is a pleasure with very little traffic on the roads, meaning you are often on your own to discover the wonders of the Highlands.
The main railway line to the North runs directly through the village of Newtonmore with a regular service running throughout the day, and the night sleeper from London will stop here by arrangement.
Buses running from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Inverness stop in the village every two hours during the day and are a good way of seeing the sites without getting in the car.
Flying into Scotland is also very easy with many airports offering a service to Inverness, where you can hire a car.
Directions By Car
From Inverness - 45.3 miles
Depart Inverness on the A9 heading south. After 41 miles you will reach the Kingussie exit, where you will need to bear left for 0.1 miles. At the T junction turn right and continue straight to and through Kingussie. You will soon enter the village of Newtonmore. Continue through the village for 1.1 miles until you reach the Laggan and Fort William junction, where you have to turn right. Approximately 0.5 miles down the road on the right hand side is a turning to Biallid House.
From Perth - 64.6 miles
Leave Perth via the A9 heading north and continue driving for 63 miles. As you approach the village of Newtonmore you will see an exit signposted to the B9150, take this turning and continue for around 1.2 miles. After the Station Road junction turn left and left again onto the Laggan and Fort William Road. Continue for around 0.5 of a mile and you will see a turning on your right for Biallid House.
